It is said that nowadays the rate of depression has gotten high enough to be 1 in 8 teens . Most people use it to describe how one is feeling, but it's much more complicated than that. Depression is a gateway to things such as drugs, alcohol and even suicide attempts. Depression is very serious and needs to be looked out for.
There are many causes to depression, for example it can be passed on through blood as a disease and it may also occur on its own after perhaps a tragic event. One of the scariest things about it is that depression is a severe sadness that can lead people to do what used to be unimaginable to them. Depression comes in all sorts of forms that interfere with different things in peoples lives.
There is major depression, which can cause bad sleep and eating disorders and is usually accompanied by feelings of quilt and the inability to feel happy. There is also dysthymia which is not as severe as major depression but can affect the person for long periods of time, sometimes years. And there is the bipolar disorder which is probably the scariest one. When bipolar the person cannot control his emotions and is often switching them from completely sad to outbursts of anger and hyperness.
When people are going through periods of stress, they can begin to under or depending on the situation, over eat, this is a symptom for depression. They may also change their sleeping habits and feel as though in pain thought there is nothing physically wrong. Another symptom is when people begin to care less about their future and have frequent thoughts of suicide and death.
In conclusion depression is a very dangerous disease and needs to be looked out for in people of all ages and sizes.
